 The Genealogical Library located at the Steven's Museum is home to more than 6000 articles, books, periodicals, magazines, and pictures. A full card catalog of over 1,000 pictures is easily accessible and can help you to find photos of family members, or friends. Helpful staff members are available at all times to help you research and find what you need. Two microfilm readers are also available for researchers to utilize and find even more information. Within the library, researchers can also find newspapers from the birth of the printing press to today. Researchers can also find census records and detailed materials to help identify families.
In addition, vertical files can be found on hundreds of people organized by last names. While all information can not be verified in the family files, it is one of the finest starting points in family research. Information can be discovered from not only Washington County, but surrounding counties, plus other counties in Indiana, Kentucky, Ohio, Illinois, Virginia, and more. In addition, the library also sells books and records. A printable order form is available, as well as a searchable database of indexed names (no pertinent information is given).
