Old Business Now on Display in the New Era
Old Business, Now in the New Era

The Stevens Memorial Museum has recently developed a new display in the "roving" Berkey Display case that features many old businesses from the nineteenth and twentieth centuries in Salem, Indiana. Curator Tony Terrell says, "I have constructed a small town using photos of business' in the late 1800's and early 1900's." Adding, "some of these buildings still exist." The buildings in the photo are, the second courthouse on the far right, (1828-1885), the Hotel Alvis, now El Maguey Mexican restaurant in downtown Salem on the square, and the Benua Store, now Salem Title located in downtown Salem on the square.
