Awareness Washington County, in existence since 1982, is a nationally recognized leadership program dedicated to strengthening and transforming Washington County by developing servant leaders.  We believe that each person has leadership potential, and we endeavor to bring out that potential.

Program Outcomes:

w Increased knowledge of the community: history, strengths, issues.

w Training and practice in working with others with diverse opinions, backgrounds, experiences, and perspectives.

w Enhanced self-confidence and self-awareness.

w Understanding of and respect for personal leadership styles.

w Enthusiasm and dedication for continuing servant leadership in our community.

Knowing that everyone is a leader and equipped with leadership qualities, AWC trains a core group of leaders each year, equipping them with leadership skills that they can use within all of their spheres of influence:  civic organizations, service clubs, business, church, and family.   AWC’s goal is to empower the class members and send them out into the community as catalysts of change, thus making Washington County a “leader-full” community, responsive to the needs of its citizens.
