We provide Digital Subscriber Line, or DSL, connections where it's available. DSL availability completely depends on whether or not the phone company has the necessary equipment in your area. You can call your local phone company or us to determine if DSL is available in your area. All of our DSL accounts come with:
- Up to 5 filtered email addresses
- Full Usenet Newsgroup access
- 10MB of server space for website publication
We also provide free telephone tech support for your DSL connection and DSL modems or routers purchased from us. The cost for our DSL is a $60 (plus tax) activation fee from Verizon, the cost of the modem kit and then the monthly service charge. The monthly service charge for our DSL accounts vary depending on the package you choose. Some packages may not be available in all areas. The speeds listed are maximum speeds rather than guaranteed speeds. The actual maximum speed that one gets on a connection will depend on the capability of the phone line.

| As long as the available DSL is on an ATM circuit, we can provide you with a DSL modem kit. The benefit of purchasing the modem kit from us when you sign up for Blueriver DSL is that we can provide you with support for these modems. Modems purchased elsewhere may or may not be compatible with the DSL circuit. Our modem kits include the DSL modem and 2 inline filters. The purpose of the filters is to filter the DSL frequency from the phone line so that you can use your phone and the DSL on the same line. Our ATM Modem Kits are $50 + tax. |

Because DSL is a connection that is always on, you may want to consider purchasing a router for security reasons. The longer you remain connected, the longer you'll have the same IP Address. An IP Address provides a way for hackers to identify you on the Internet. A hacker can also use this to hack into your computer. A router will help prevent this as it will act as a firewall. We only carry Linksys routers. Due to there being so many different kinds of routers out there, we can only provide support for the routers we sell. That's an advantage to purchasing one of our routers, plus they come ready to work with our DSL out of the box.
We keep two types of routers in stock. We have a single port router that is $59 + tax, and we have a four port router that is $69 + tax. Using a router will also allow you to connect mutliple computers to your DSL. If you don't plan on having multiple computers on your DSL then the single port router should suit your purpose. But if you plan on connecting multiple computers to your DSL, the 4 port router might be the better option. |
